Donald Scott Weller, 86, of Frederick, MD, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born on June 11, 1931 in Westminster, MD, he was the son of the late Marjorie and John S. Weller. He was the beloved husband of 29 years in North Carolina to the late Else Starnes Weller. Don attended public school in Westminster. In 1948, he started work for Bendix Radio as a mail clerk and was Chief General Accountant when he left Bendix in 1967. He had also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting at the University of Baltimore. In 1967 he started work for Control Data Corporation in Rockville, MD and was Division Controller when he left in 1973 to move to Charlotte, NC. From 1973 until 1993 he was Divisional Controller for Lundy Electronics & Systems. From 1993 until 1997 he did consulting work for a number of local companies. In 1997 he went to work for Carolina Handling and had various Accounting duties. In 2006 he retired from Carolina Handling. Don was an active member of the Charlotte Elks #392 and served twice as Exalted Ruler first in 1981 and again in 1991. He held nearly every office in the local lodge and his latest position was Treasurer. Don is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Donald S Weller Jr. & Moira Colleen Weller of Frederick, MD; 3 daughters Diana McDaris of Charlotte, NC; Debbie Wicker of Dallas, Texas; and Denise Weller, 6 grandchildren Jessica DeVine of York, PA; Donald S. Weller III, Ashley Weller, Angela Tucker and Richard Hamorsky of Charlotte, NC; Sean Dixon of Waynesboro, VA; 5 great-grandchildren, Johnathan & Dalton Baublitz of York, PA; Regan & Peyton Hamorsky of Charlotte, NC; and Richie Smith of Charlotte, NC. He was predeceased by a brother John David Weller and sister Naomi Myers. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Westminster Cemetery.
