Donna Catherine Duncan (nee Quinn) completed her mission on Earth on May 29, 2016. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 1, 1924 to William J. Quinn (b. Pittsburgh, PA) and Teresa M. Quinn (nee MacDonald, b. Port Huron, MI). She was raised in Washington D.C. with her older brother (William) and younger brother (Joseph), both deceased. Donna attended St. Gabriel's Catholic School and graduated from Roosevelt High School. Donna met her husband, Clyde E. Duncan, Jr. (August 10, 1926 - October 4, 1990), while he was in the Navy serving on the USS Marblehead and later on the Presidential yacht -the USS Williamsburg. They married on March 1, 1947 and moved to Maryland. Donna's mission included lovingly raising eight children: Doreen Donaldson of Huntingtown, MD, MacDonald Duncan of Harpers Ferry, WV, Daniel Duncan of Rockville, MD, Maura Parker of Mt. Airy, MD, Bonnie Duncan of Howard County, MD, Andrew Duncan of Westminster, MD, William Duncan of Frederick, MD, and Matthew Duncan of Westminster, MD. At 42, Donna enrolled at University of Maryland and earned a B.S. in Special Education. She taught elementary school students for more than 10 years. She and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the US in their RV. Donna and Clyde made family their first priority. After her husband's death, Donna traveled to Jerusalem, Greece, and Ireland. She was very active in her church as a daily communicant, Eucharistic minister, Pro-Life coordinator, and teacher of religious education. She was a lifelong Third-Order Franciscan and a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians promoting peace, social justice, unity, and charity. She leaves a legacy of three generations including 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The viewing will be at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8pm . Services will be held at St. Augustine's Church, 5876 Old Washington Road, Elkridge, MD on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 11am. Interment will be at Crestlawn Cemetery, Marriottsville, MD.
