DORETHA M. CORBITT ROCKPORT, ME¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿.Doretha M. Corbitt, 74, died Dec. 9, 2014 in Camden, ME. Born in Manchester, MD on August 27, 1940, she was the daughter of Smith A. and Edith (Simmons) Eckenrode. A 1958 graduate of St. John's Catholic School in Westminster, she received her nursing degree in 1961 at St. Agnes School of Nursing in Baltimore. As a registered nurse, Dorie first worked in the emergency room at St. Agnes Hospital, later worked as a psychiatric nurse at Howard County General Hospital and retired as a utilization review coordinator at Sheppard Pratt Hospital in March of 2001. In Maryland, Dorie was a longtime communicant of St. John's Catholic Church where she was very active with the women's club and the book club. Dorie enjoyed working with different crafts including, sewing, knitting, and needlepoint. She was an avid reader and loved to laugh. In 2009, she moved to Rockport, ME to be near her daughter, Janet Heath and her family. She was the co-chairperson of the women's club of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church in Camden where she quickly made many new friends. Surviving are her two daughters, Judi Olinger of Mt. Airy, MD; Janet Heath and her husband, David of Rockport, ME; five grandchildren, Amanda Heath; Derek Olinger; Matthew Heath; Michael Heath; and Jonathan Heath; five sisters, Doris Eckenrode of MD; Arlene Phillips and husband of FL; Carolyn Strasbaugh and husband of VA; Toni Eckenrode and husband, Jo Ann Zaleski and husband of MD; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Ronnie Hales. Services were held in Camden, ME on Dec. 13, 2014. Spring services will be announced and held in Westminster, MD.
