Doris E. Holmes, 86, of Harrisburg, PA, formerly of Westminster, MD, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She was born May 5, 1928, in Harrisburg; she was the daughter of the late Aaron W. and Amy (Sheppard) Wallower; and preceded in death by her husband, J. Thomas "Tommy" Holmes; her son, Jeffrey Holmes; and her brothers, Donald and Carl Wallower. She was a retired employee from Black and Decker, with 36 years of service; and a graduate of William Penn High School. Doris is survived by her daughter, Cherie N. Dininni, husband, Nicholas, of Harrisburg; two sons, Jacob Thomas Holmes III, wife, Claire, of Denton, MD and Mark W. Holmes, partner, Lucinda Kratsch, of Richmond, VA; 4 grandchildren, Laura (Dininni) Cusumano, Jacob T. Holmes IV, Jacqueline N. States and Daniel J. Holmes; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy and love. We miss her dearly. A viewing will be held at 10:30 AM followed by the Funeral Service at 11:30 AM Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, MD. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Purple Heart Foundation, 7008 Little River Turnpike, P. O. Box 49, Annandale, VA 22003.
