Doris Janet Flickinger, 80, of Taneytown, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Carroll Hospice's Dove Hospice House in Westminster.

Born Aug. 2, 1931, in Harney, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Florence Koontz Angell. She was the wife of the late E. Leroy Flickinger.

She was a longtime resident of Mount Airy, where she and her husband were dairy farmers for many years. She also worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for Southern States and Pilchard Sealed Storage in Mount Airy before retiring.

An avid gardener, she and her husband were known for their rose garden, which produced award-winning arrangements every year at the Great Frederick Fair. Other favorite pastimes included bowling, crafts, baking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are children Larry Flickinger, of Harney, and Linda Burgee and husband Bruce, of Frederick; a daughter-in-law, Mary Flickinger, of Emmitsburg; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers Albert, Gene and Earl Angell; a sister, Ruth Hoffman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Bernard Flickinger; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Flickinger; sisters Louella Strawsbaugh and Grace Kerrigan; and a brother, Leroy Angell.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenneth Hoover officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice's Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
