Doris Jean Haines, 77, of Hanover, Pa., formerly of Westminster, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House, following an extended illness.

Born July 23, 1936, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Stephan and Laura Grabill Boone. She was the wife of Gordon Eugene Haines, who died in 1992.

She was formerly employed by the Union Bridge Clothing Factory and retired from Black and Decker in 1982.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Union Bridge. She enjoyed gardening, word search books and spending time with her friends and family.

Surviving are daughter Paula Haines Troxell and husband Bill, of Westminster; a son, Jay Haines, of Hanover; a grandson, Ryan Troxell; step-daughter Gloria Barnes and husband John, of Westminster; sisters Pauline Keeney, of Waynesboro, Pa., Shirley Myers, of Hanover, and Patricia Testerman, of Taneytown; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brothers Herb, Maurice "Bo" and Donald "Doc" Boone; and sisters Edna Mae Krenzer, Betty Boone, Martha Helwig and Mary Grace Boone.

There will be no public visitation.

A private graveside service will be held in Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
