Doris Lorraine Nelson, 85, of Frederick, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Glade Valley Center in Walkersville.

Born Jan. 18, 1928, in Hanover, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William G. and Edna Fram Heagy. Twice married, she was the wife of the late Roy S. Kent; and the wife of Orval S. Nelson Sr., her husband of six years. 

She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick. She was formerly employed with Fairchild of Baltimore and Rittenhouse Fuel Company of Hampstead.

She was a member of the Auxiliary of Korean War Veterans of Frederick. She enjoyed traveling, painting, shopping and her cat, Lady.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are step-daughters Joanne Ambrose and husband Bob, of Frederick, and Jenni Main and husband Mark, of Middletown; stepsons Skip Nelson and wife Lyn, of Las Vegas, Nev. and Curtis Nelson and wife Dawn, of Myersville; six step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; cousins Janet MacGregor and husband Don, of Baltimore, Sterling Beard and wife Arlene, of Westminster, Betty Santarnes and husband George, of Charlotte, S.C., and Gwen Welty, of Westminster; and friends Louise Richardson, of Westminster and Verna Lee Studz, of Hanover, Pa.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service, noon Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road, Libertytown, with Dr. Michael O'Donnell, associate pastor of Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.
