Doris Elaine Strawsburg, 86, of New Windsor, died Monday, December 28, 2015 at her son and daughter-in-law's residence in New Windsor after an illness since May. Born September 26, 1929 in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Nusbaum and Annie Grimes Nusbaum. She was the wife of Roland "Buddy" Strawsburg who predeceased her on May 6, 2015. Doris was employed at the Union Bridge Clothing Factory for 20 years and she and her husband owned and operated the New Windsor Tavern for 10 years. She then drove a school bus for Carroll County Board of Education for 20 years, while also working with her husband at Strawsburg Liquors in New Windsor. She enjoyed boating, cooking, flower gardening and listening to country music. Surviving are son, Steven C. Strawsburg Sr. and wife Susie of New Windsor; 2 grandchildren, Doris Fox and husband Greg of Philadelphia and Steven C. Strawsburg Jr. and wife Kim of New Windsor; 3 great grandchildren, Rebecca and Emily Fox and Steven C. "Trey" Strawsburg III and a brother, Walter Thomas Nusbaum and wife Joan of York, PA. She was predeceased by 4 sisters and 4 brothers. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor, with Deacon Charles Barnhart, of Keysville Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, January 1.
