Dorothy B. Cox, 91, of New Freedom, Pennsylvania, formerly of Sparks, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born Aug. 9, 1922, in Codorus Township, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Ira E. Braun and Lula M. Wolf Braun. She was the wife of the late Willard W. Cox Sr.

She was a 1938 graduate of the former Codorus Township High School, where she was valedictorian. She was a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of the Mason-Dixon Baptist Church of New Freedom and the New Freedom Senior Center.

She enjoyed playing bridge, listening to country music at state fairs and making doll houses for her family. She was a founding member and vice president of the Thornton Mill Garden Club.

Surviving are children Dorothy L. Cox, of New Freedom, Willard W. Cox Jr., of Burlington, Washington, Philip L. Cox and wife Gloria Jean, of Hampstead, Sally Ann Mellott and husband Wayne, of Parkton, Steven Lee Cox and wife Kathy, of Cockeysville, and Deborah J. Harman and husband Edward, of Hampstead; a sister, Helen Wilhelm, of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania; brother Ira E. Braun Jr. and wife Cheryl, of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Kevin E. Cox Sr.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, noon Saturday, July 12, at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, Pennsylvania, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Cademartori officiating. Interment will be at Bethlehem Steltz Cemetery.
