Dorothy Ellen Raub Myers, 79, of Surf City, New Jersey, died Thursday, May 29, 2014, surrounded by family at her son's home in Mount Airy.

Born March 31, 1935, in Trenton, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Sabina "Sally" Tierney and stepdaughter of Raymond Tierney. She was the wife of Stanwood Cobb Myers, her husband of 57 years, who died Aug. 16, 2013. They were high school sweethearts.

After raising her family, she took up painting, focusing mainly on watercolors. She enjoyed painting pictures of her grandchildren, landscapes, homes and wildlife and was regarded for her unique Christmas cards. She was an active member of the Pine Shores Art Association and was a member of Wright Memorial Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed chocolate, was witty and full of wonderful sayings, which she shared often with her family and friends.

Surviving are children Virginia Myers Fossner and husband Nathaniel Fossner, Paul Stanwood Myers and wife Lillian Griggs Myers, Douglas Cobb Myers and wife Ellen Finnerty Myers; grandchildren Douglas Paul Abraham, Christopher Thomas Abraham, Paul S.G. Myers, Lauren Marie Myers, Nicholas Steven Dahl, Joseph Finnerty Dahl, Theresa Anne Myers and Ansleigh Cobb Myers; a sister, Virgina Raywood; stepbrothers Joseph Tierney and Michael Tierney; a brother-in-law, Robert Paul Myers; and many nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wright Memorial Presbyterian Church, 330 S. Main St., Barnegat Township, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Pine Shores Art Association, 94 Stafford Avenue, P.O. Box 886, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
