Dorothy Lee Turfle, 80, of Taylorsville, went to be with her late husband, Robert "Bud" Turfle on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. Dottie was born March 2, 1937 in Sykesville, MD to the late Raynard L. Pickett and the late M. Estelle Tucker Pickett. Dottie was employed with the Carroll County Board of Education for 26+ years, retiring in 1997. Dottie was survived by children and their spouses Donald W. of Westminster, Bryon L. and Kathleen of Westminster, Robert C. and Debra of Hampstead, Kenneth W. and Susan of Westminster and Penny L. and Paul Shelton of Martinsburg, WV. She loved her 11 grandchildren and adored her 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving Dottie are her brother, Charles "Bubby" Pickett and his wife Dorothy of Sykesville, MD, sister-in-law Julia Turfle Pickett of Woodbine, MD and sister-in-law Betty Turfle Lambert of Hagerstown, MD as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10AM on Monday, June 26, 2017, at Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD 21784 with Pastor Dale Krotee officiating. Interment will follow in Taylorsville UMC cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157 or to Winfield Volunteer Fire Department, 1320 W. Old Liberty Rd., Sykesville, MD 21784
