Evelyn Earlene Lowman, 92, of Keymar, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Lorien Taneytown.

Born June 13, 1921, in Union Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Mary Diehl Hartsock. She was the wife of George P. Lowman, her husband of 67 years.

She was a 1938 graduate of Elmer Wolfe High School in Union Bridge. She was an active member of Middleburg United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

In earlier years, she was employed with C&P Telephone Company in Taneytown and Lehigh Portland Cement Company in Union Bridge. She retired in 1985 from Farmers and Mechanics Bank in Union Bridge.

She enjoyed her family, cooking, sewing and needlework, and taking care of the home in Keymar, where she had lived since 1948.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son Richard G. Lowman and wife Barbara, of Herndon, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Dianne Lowman, of Elkton, Va.; grandsons Matthew and David Lowman, both of Herndon, and Heath Lowman and wife Jeannie, of Luray, Va.; and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, George E. Lowman, who died in 2006.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with her pastor, the Rev. Walter Bosman officiating. Interment will be in Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the United Methodist Women of Middleburg United Methodist Church, c/o Wendy Senseney, 331 Johnsville Road, Keymar, MD 21757.
