E. Thomas Slonaker, 89, of Owings Mills, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Springhouse Assisted Living in Owings Mills.

Born Oct. 15, 1924, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Elmer E. Slonaker and Lula Bosley Slonaker. He was the husband of Katherine White Slonaker, his wife of 69 years.

He was a graduate of Loyola College, magna cum laude. He served in the Army during World War II in both the Normandy Invasion and in the Pacific Theatre.

He was retired from the MTA Credit Union, where he was the chief financial officer and, for seven years following, worked as a realtor for Coldwell Banker. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Tom Dulaney Slonaker and wife Madeline, and Karen Ann Edwards and husband Keith; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister.

He was predeceased by three siblings.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, 2275 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, with the Rev. Eric Jorgenson officiating. Entombment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville.
