Edgar Clifford "Cliff" Leister, 70, of Westminster, died Monday, June 18, 2012, at home.

Born Feb. 1, 1942, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Helen Wike Leister and Edgar N. Leister. He was the husband of Rachel Sies Leister.

He was a graduate of Westminster High School. He served in the Army security and immediately began his career in the National Security Agency.

He was a member of the Carroll County Historical Society and recently a member of Calvary Bible Church. He taught an adult Sunday school class for 32 years and had been a church treasurer and deacon. He enjoyed model trains, amateur meteorology, gardening and bird watching.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons and daughters-in-law Steven and Jane Leister, of Silver Run, and Philip and Stacie Leister, of Hampstead; grandchildren Brittney, Logan and Jack; stepsister Vivian Bixler and husband Ray; and many friends.

He was predeceased by his stepmother Sadie Snyder Leister.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Chuck Buettner officiating. Interment will follow in St. John (Leister's) Church Cemetery.
