Edith "Jackie" Hood Germroth, 95, of Sykesville, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Aug. 9, 1916, in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Minnie Webb Jackson, to whom, until their deaths, she was a caregiver. She was the wife of the late Crawmer Hood and then of the late Charles Germroth.

At the age of 15, she began working in clothing manufacturing in Westminster, first at Grief Brothers, then Westminster Coat and later moving to Hancock, where she retired from the London Fog Boonsboro Plant as the pressing department supervisor.

She was the 13th of 15 children, and was the last of her immediate family.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Carol and Robert Baker, of Sharpsburg; sons and daughters-in-law John and Mildred Hood, of Stephens City, Va., and Donald and Janet Hood, of Sykesville; a daughter-in-law, Glenda Hood, of Louisiana; stepdaughters Dianne Pryor, of Meyersville, and Sandra Young, of Hagerstown; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Miriam Brehm, of Pleasant Hill, and Betty Sanders, of Hanover, Pa.; numerous nieces and nephews; and friends Milford and Judith Gordon, of Pencil Bluff, Ark.

She was predeceased by a son, Robert Hood Sr.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Duane L. Jensen, of Hancock United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery.
