Edward Elzy "Bud" Crafton, 71, of Hampstead, died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at home.

Born Feb. 3, 1943, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Thomas Lee and Ruth Hazel Hepburn Crafton. He was the husband of Mary Agnes Loiacono Crafton, his wife of 53 years.

He was a retired iron worker for Local 16. He was also a Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 200 in Hampstead. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed carpentry work and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, David Thomas Crafton Sr., of South Carolina; siblings Faith Davis, of New Windsor, Emma Lamp, of Baltimore County, Karen Spence, of Littlestown, Pennsylvania, and Ronald Crafton, of Hanover, Pennsylvania; grandchildren David T. Crafton Jr., of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Amanda Crafton, of New Oxford, Pennsylvania, and April Kirkpatrick, of Dover, Pennsylvania; and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Florence Mercurio.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Interment will be private.
