Edward Engler Gibbons, Jr., formerly of Rugby Hall Estates, Arnold, MD, and currently of Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover, PA, died December 24, 2015. He was 99 years old. He was born in Roland Park, attended Johns Hopkins University and General Motors Tech in Flint, Michigan. He was employed by General Motors as a co-op student, the Glenn L. Martin Co., Aircraft Armaments, Inc., and Contract Supply Co. before retiring. He was a member of University Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD, and he attended the Chapel at Homewood. His hobbies included woodworking, jewelry making, candle making, gardening, and various crafts. His first wife, Helen (Ogier) Gibbons, died in 1966. He married Betty Bullis Sheppard in 1969. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2010. Survivors include Edward E. Gibbons, III and his wife, Nancy, of Westminster, MD; Susan G. Schroeder and her husband, Oskar, of New Park, PA; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Following cremation, a service to remember and celebrate Ed's life will be 11 AM, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Chapel at Homewood at Plum Creek, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122; or the Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolent Fund, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
