Edward Joseph Gribben, 79, of Westminster, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.

Born Feb. 26, 1934, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Edward and Laura Jenkins Gribben. He was the husband of Antoinette "Teenie" Gribben, his wife of 55 years.

He was a veteran of the Army. He had been a PBX installer with C&P Telephone Company for many years.

He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster and was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Monsignor Hugh Moneghan Post No. 736. He enjoyed golfing.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons and daughter-in-law Steven Gribben, of Mount Airy, and Scott and Michele Gribben, of Manchester; daughters and sons-in-law Kathleen and Chuck Allender, of Severn, and Colleen and James Duerr, of Westminster; sisters Doris Baumer, of Baltimore, and Mary Ellen French, of Massachusetts; grandchildren Michael, Cindy and Kelly Allender, Douglas Heimer, Andrew and Sean Gribben, Matthew and Nicole Duerr, Amy Dibble and David Gribben; and a great-granddaughter, Sydney Heimer.

He was predeceased by siblings Walter Gribben, Bea Osmond and June Wishard.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Roman Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
