Edward L. Stitely of Taneytown, MD passed away peacefully Friday, July 3rd at the age of 73. Born July 16 1941 in Union Bridge, MD, he was the son of the late Donald and Loretta Stitely. Ed graduated from Elmer Wolfe and earned his degree in AutoCAD from Frederick Community College. All his life, he worked in various areas of construction. He retired from the City of Westminster. In his spare time, he enjoyed butchering time, playing golf, tinkering in his shed, working on his computer, and taking walks in the woods with his grandsons. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whom will be deeply missed on this earth. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Mary of Taneytown, sons Jeffrey of Walkersville, MD and Kevin (wife Tawny) of Annapolis, MD, daughter Tammy Kurtz (husband Bob) of Fairfield, PA, three grandsons; Robby, Zachery and JD, brothers Roy (wife Judy) of Westminster, MD and Fred (wife Linda) of Walled Lake, MI, sisters Joyce Thomas (husband Cephus) of Hagerstown, MD, Janis Stottlemyer (husband Bob) of Thurmont, MD, and Donna Nichols (husband Alan) of Frederick, MD, many nieces, nephews and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Leroy, stepson Ronnie Baker, and granddaughter Tori. At Ed's request, there will be no services. He chose to donate his body to the Maryland Anatomy Board in the hope to aid others. Cremation will take place at a later date.
