Edwin Eugene Bell Sr., 85, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at home.

Born Nov. 23, 1927, in Halethorpe, he was the son of the late John E. Bell and Hilda Mabin Bell. He was the husband of Peggy Sue Bell, his wife of 41 years.

He had served in both the Marines and the Army during World War II. He was retired from Proctor & Gamble, having worked first as a mechanical engineer and then later as a supervisor.

In 1995, he and his wife moved from Carroll County to Cumberland. He belonged to Our Lady of the Mountains Parish-SS. Peter & Paul Shrine; Mountainside Marines; and Fort Cumberland Post No. #13 American Legion.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Daniel G. Bell, of Baltimore, David J. Bell and wife Lisa, of Los Angeles, Calif., Edwin E. Bell Jr. and wife Miranda, of Silver Run, and Damien L. Bell, of Westminster; daughters Melody F. McMillan and husband John, of Hagerstown, Diane Kirchoff and husband Billy, of Sykesville, and Tera Ashlee Bell, of Cumberland; brother John A. Bell and wife Jackie, of Edgewood; a sister, Margaret Donahue, of Baltimore; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Juanita Moore; a sister, June B. Felise; and, a brother, Charles F. Bell.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., Cumberland.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at SS. Peter & Paul Shrine, 125 Fayette St., Cumberland. Interment will be in MSVC-Rocky Gap, where military honors will be accorded by Post No. 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
