Edwin "Ed" Granville Sprinkle, 86, of Hampstead, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House.

Born Jan. 25, 1927, in Westminster, he was the son of the late Alver E. and Gladys Barrick Sprinkle. He was the husband of Gladys L. Sprinkle, his wife of 62 years.

He was a 1944 graduate of Westminster High School. He then served in the Navy from 1945 until 1947. He was an agent for State Farm Insurance, retiring in 1992.

He was past president with the Westminster Jaycees and the Carroll County Life Underwriters. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing and home improvements. He was patriotic, and he was an avid Ravens and Orioles fan. He mainly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son and daughter-in-law Jim and Sharon Sprinkle, of Palm Bay, Fla.; daughters Kelly O'Hara, of Westminster, and Jody Sprinkle, of Annapolis; grandchildren Jason Sprinkle, Brad Sprinkle, Kasey O'Hara and Michael O'Hara; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by siblings Kenneth Sprinkle, Roberta Starner, Boyd "El" Sprinkle and Norma Rubeor.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service, 3 p.m. Saturday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with Carroll Hospice Chaplain David Bare officiating. Interment will be private.
