On July 12, 2014, Elanor Matthews Burns Civish, of Towson, formerly of Hampstead, died Saturday, July 12 at Edenwald Retirement Community in Towson. Born September 17, 1907 in Hampstead, she was the daughter of the late Claude T. and Eurydice Shaffer Matthews. Beloved wife of the late Walter L. Burns and John Civish; dear sister of C. Tilden "BUD" Matthews and his wife Pat Newbell Matthews and the late Evelyn Stevenson, Lavina Bunting Hancock, J. Addison Matthews and Willard Matthews. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Civish attended Hampstead School and in her youth was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She was active for many years in the Deborah Circle United Methodist Women. She worked at Hutzler Brothers Co. Downtown and was an active volunteer for American Red Cross. She enjoyed traveling domestically and abroad. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 25th at 11:00AM at Towson United Methodist Church. Please omit flowers.
