Elle Rannala Vilgats, 88, of Check, Va., died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va.

Born in Elva, Estonia, she was the daughter of the late August and Ottilie Rannala. She was the wife of the late Endel Vilgats.

She moved to Germany at the age of 19, and met her husband in 1945. They came to the United States in 1949 and settled in Seabrook, N.J. She was a longtime resident of Trenton, N.J., before moving to Check.

Although she previously worked with Seabrook Farms, she was primarily a homemaker for most of her life. For many years she was an active member in the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lakewood, N.J.

Surviving are children Vello Vilgats and wife Janice, Aime Pringle and husband Jeffrey Sr., and Arvo Vilgats; a sister, Endla Lepik; grandchildren Lori Metzler, Steven Vilgats, Kersti Weddle, Jeffrey Pringle Jr. and Melissa Vilgats; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Toivo Vilgats.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Saturday at D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lakewood.
