Elvy Kathleen Bollinger, 92, formerly of Taneytown, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at St. Catherine's Nursing Home in Emmitsburg.

Born May 30, 1920, in Uniontown, she was the daughter of the late Henry O. and Virginia "Jenny" Davis Sittig. She was the wife of Wilbur C. Bollinger, who died in 1988.

She was formerly employed in several sewing factories and retired from Carroll County Hospital in 1980, after working 11 years in the laundry area.

She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Uniontown. She enjoyed baking, reading, telling stories and spending time with her great-grandchildren. She was known for her sense of humor.

She had been a resident of St. Catherine's for the past six years, where she enjoyed her stuffed animals.

Surviving are grandchildren Donna M. Myerly and husband Jeff, of Keymar, and Dwayne W. Gregg and wife Linda, of Westminster; great-grandchildren Aaron Myerly and wife Leola, and Daniel Gregg; a son-in-law, Charles R. "Chuck" Gregg, of Union Bridge; sisters Virginia Baile, of New Oxford, Pa., and Caroline Garber and husband Edward, of New Windsor; a brother, Robert Sittig, of Selena, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley V. Gregg, who died in 1996; a sister, Margaret Shoemaker; a brother, Carl Sittig; and nieces Joan Sullivan and Cindy Garber.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard L. Michael, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church in Union Bridge, officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Uniontown.
