Elwood Augustus Myers, 96, of Union Bridge, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born May 5, 1917, in Uniontown, he was the son of the late Andrew Jonas and Mary Nora Myers. He was the husband of the late Ruth Anna Willet Myers, his wife of 63 years.

He was a retired dairy farmer in Carroll County. He was a lifelong member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau and a longtime member of the Maryland Milk Producers Association. He was involved in 4-H from his youth and became a Carroll County and Maryland State 4-H All-Star.

He was a member of the former Baust Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tyrone, where he served in a variety of positions over the years, including past president of the church council. He was a member of the Baust Cemetery Board for many years and was a current member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown.

He enjoyed carpentry, playing dominoes and checkers and spending time with his family.

Surviving are children Shirley Blean, of Bloomfield, Conn., Donald Myers and wife Miriam, of New Windsor, Richard Myers and wife Judy, of Mount Joy, Pa., and Darlene Wike and Joanna Goeckeritz, both of Union Bridge; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew.

He was predeceased by sons-in-law David Blean, William "Tom" Wike and Barry Goeckeritz; and a nephew, Jim Willet.

The family will recieve friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Thursday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, with the Rev. Josh Semovoski officiating and the Rev. Glen Willet assisting. Interment will follow at Baust Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, 21787; or to Carroll Hospice's Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
