Erkwood Dorsey "Miss Erkwood" Chase, 94, of Westminster, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House.

Born May 11, 1918, in Mount Airy, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Alice Dorsey. She was the wife of the late Theodore R. Chase Sr., whom she married in 1939.

She was educated in Westminster and, after getting married, she worked at Rosewood State Hospital until she retired.

She was a member of Union Street Methodist Church in Westminster, where she served many years as superintendent of the church school. She also served in other various capacities at the church.

She was a past Worthy Matron of Annie C. Smith Chapter No. 61 and a member of Hope No. 52. She also was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the ladies group called the Askewettes.

Surviving are children Theodore "Sonny" Chase Jr., Alice Dorsey and Roland Chase; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Chase; grandchildren Michelle Altherr, Renee Johnson, Shelley Ensor, Charles Dorsey Jr., Sonia Chase, Natalie Anderson, and Anthony and Ashley Chase; great-grandchildren Aaron, Jonathan, Henry Jr., Nicole, Jailen and Kyara; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends 11 a.m. until the time of service, 11:30 a.m. Friday at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. Interment will be in Gardens of Eternal Hope.
