Ernest Eugene Turney, 82, of Gamber died Sunday, May 22, 2016. Born in Mountain Lake Park, MD on April 10, 1934, he was the son of the late Isaac Turney and Eleanor G. (Eichelberger) Turney. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1952. He was an alumnus of the University of Maryland, College Park and West Virginia Wesleyan College, Buckhannon WV. He was a five year veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict. After military service, he was employed for thirty seven years with the Dept. of Defense where he was a Senior Engineering Specialist and a Section Chief; after his retirement from the DOD he was employed as a manager for Metro RV. His final employment was at Carroll Community College. He had been a member of the former Emmanuel Baptist Church, Gamber. He is survived by his wife, Modena Rhodes Turney, and daughters Lee Ann Crochunis of Hampstead and Anna Grant of Middletown, VA; sons Peter Turney of Finksburg and Matthew Turney of Westminster; grandchildren Caroline, Olivia, Diana, Katherine, Kathleen, Andrew and Matthew. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Lisa Baker Huot of Washington, D.C. and a stepson, Charles Baker of Phoenix. He was predeceased by infant twin brothers, Ronald and Donald Turney. Viewing, services at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, Finksburg, and interment are private.
