Ernest V. Hartig, 94, of Baltimore, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Seasons Hospice at Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown.

Born Sept. 28, 1918, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late August and Adelaide VonHohenthal Hartig. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Lucille Heacock Hartig, his wife of 68 years.

He was a steel fabricator for Dietrich Brother and Durby Steel for 39 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 during World War II. He loved his farm and showing his antique tractors.

Surviving are children Janet L. Mentzer, Wayne E. Hartig and wife Barbara and Elaine D. Hartig; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by brother Karl Hartig.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to p.m. Monday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Deacon Charles Barnhart officiating.

Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Christ United Church of Christ, 1308 Beason St., Baltimore, MD 21230.
