Ernest Wayne "Buck" Riffey, 51, of Westminster, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.

Born Dec. 15, 1960, in Olney, he was the son of the late Wyvonna Johnson Burkett; and stepson of Donald Eugene Burkett, of Athens, Ga. He was the husband of Charlotte Ann "Cookie" Toney Riffey.

He worked as a welder for Stambaugh's Welding in Union Bridge. He enjoyed fishing in his canoe, spending time with family and his pet cockatoo, Angel Boy, and was an avid Ravens fan.

Surviving, in addition to his father and wife, are daughters Kimberly Farney, of Westminster, and Amanda Riffey, of Hanover, Pa.; a son, Kevin Riffey, of Westminster; a sister, Rose Gosnell, of Sykesville; a brother, Charles Burkett, of Glen Rock, Pa.; six grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by a son, Jonathan Riffey, who died in 1983.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
