Eva Mae (Rothhaupt) Crowl, 92, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Dove House in Westminster. She was the loving wife of the late Chester Kenneth Crowl who predeceased her in 1988. Eva was born on March 30, 1925 in Gettysburg, PA to the late Lloyd Edward and Laura Edna (Bowers) Rothhaupt. She attended a one-room schoolhouse at Little Round Top and then graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1942. Eva was baptized, confirmed and married at St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Westminster. She retired from Verizon, formerly the C&P Telephone Company, where she worked in the Business Office. While raising her family she worked alongside her husband keeping the books for Chester K. Crowl Plumbing and Heating. Upon her retirement in 1990, Eva moved to Orange City, Florida. She later returned to the Mid-Atlantic, living in Country Meadows in York, PA and Long View Health Care in Manchester, MD. Eva was a member of "Seniors in Action", the Barlow VFD, Telephone Pioneers of America, the American Legion Auxiliary- Post 31 and the Westminster Homemakers Association. She enjoyed traveling, especially cruising and taking bus trips, playing cards, and spending time with her family. She is survived by two sons, Douglas L. Crowl of Westminster, and Perry S. Crowl, DVM, and his wife, Nancy J. Taylor, DVM. She also leaves two granddaughters, Caitlin Taylor Crowl (Thomas G. Fernandez) of Westminster and Madelyn Taylor Crowl of Arlington, VA. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Eva was predeceased by siblings RuthAnna (James) Snyder, Margaret (Richard) Tawney, Doris (Francis) Fream, and Lloyd "Bud" (Esther) Rothhaupt, Jr. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, December 10, at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 799 Baltimore Street, Gettysburg, PA with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Marty Kuchma officiating. A Gathering of Friends and Family will follow at the Barlow Volunteer Fire Department in Gettysburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 17 Bond Street, Westminster, MD, 21157.
