F. Michael Klunk, 74, of Spring Grove, passed on in the arms of his family on Monday, July 17,2017 at Johns Hopkins University Hospital, Baltimore. He was the husband of Diane (Rohrbaugh) Klunk to whom he shared 27 cherished years together. Born January 28, 1943 in Dallastown, he was the son of the late Francis L. "Doc" Klunk and Rosemary (Eck) Klunk. Mike was the former owner/operator of Doc Klunks Furniture & Appliances. Mike was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover. Mike was a member of the Hanover VFW, Hanover Country Club, Regents' Glen Country Club and the Hanover YMCA. Mike received his bachelor's degree from Kings College prior to enlisting in the US Marine Corp Officer Training School attaining the rank of Captain and serving in Vietnam. Mike enjoyed many sports especially golf and cheering on the Baltimore Ravens. He was a true patriarch and loved his wife and family dearly. Surviving in addition to his wife are two children; Michael Q. Klunk and wife Leah Cooper and Lynn A. Klunk and husband Neal Shaffer all of Baltimore, three step children; Susan Simmerson and husband Matthew Braun of Winston-Salem, NC, Thomas Simmerson and wife Sally of Salisbury, NC and Kathryn Swift and husband Michael of Winchester, VA, four siblings; Carolyn M. Peters and husband Ralph of Westminster, MD, Joyce Rosenblatt and husband Arthur of The Villages, FL., Rev. Timothy B. Klunk of West River, MD and Lori Shatto and husband Steven of New Oxford. He was preceded in death by a daughter Amanda Jo Klunk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover with his brother Rev. Timothy B. Klunk as celebrant. Burial will follow in Conewago Chapel Cemetery, Edgegrove with military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Relatives and friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with prayers at 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Mike may be made to his wife's favorite charity; Club O.D.A.T., 398 York Street, Suite 3, Hanover, PA 17331. This charity supports individuals in recovery from addiction.
