Fay Laura Bowman, 75, of Taneytown, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother passed peacefully at the Dove House in Westminster on Tuesday, March 8th 2016. Fay was born to the late Charles William Smith and Francis Gertrude in Oakland Mills, Maryland on July 7th, 1940. She was the wife of Lemuel A Bowman, her husband of 52 years. Fay graduated from Rosewood Nursing School, and worked as a nurse at Springfield Hospital, Shoemaker Center, and Carroll County Detention Center. She loved sewing, gardening, attracting hummingbirds to her yard, and spending time with her friends and family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Shari Bowman of Westminster, Augustus and Katie Bowman of Portland, Oregon, and her daughter, Laura Hoffman of Taneytown; grandchildren Amanda, Joshua, Jennifer, and Maria, and one great granddaughter, Hayden Fay; nieces Cynthia and Michelle, and nephews, George and Charles. She was predeceased by her siblings. Services will be held on Saturday, March 26th, 2016 at Haight Funeral Home and Chapel located at 6416 Sykesville Road in Eldersburg. The family will receive friends from 12-2 with services starting at 2. Private interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Fay to the Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
