Frances Jacquelyn Beard, 83, of Union Bridge, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at home.

Born June 26, 1929, in Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late Bruce Houck Sr. and Helen Krise Houck. She was the wife of Ralph Wesley Beard, who died in 1984.

She was formerly employed with A.W. Feeser; Carroll County Board of Education, as a cafeteria worker at Francis Scott Key High School from 1962 until 1973; then with Taneytown Bank and Trust, until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of Mount Union Lutheran Church.

Surviving are daughters Sharon Young and husband Clark, of Hanover, Pa., and Debra Kay Geisinger and husband Dennis, of Taneytown; granddaughters Stacey and Heather Young, both of Hanover; and brothers Carroll Houck, of Clarksburg, Charles Houck, of Cassett, S.C., and Glenn Houck, of Thurmont.

She was predeceased by a brother, Bruce Houck Jr., who died in 1983.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge; and from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Mount Union Lutheran Church, 5000 Middleburg Road, Taneytown, with the Rev. Richard L. Michael, church pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Union Cemetery.
