The Guest Book is expired.

Frances Marion Clifford Bellinger, 81, of Sandy Creek, N.Y., formerly of Carroll County, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, N.Y., from natural causes.

Born May 21, 1932, in Orwell, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Granville A. and Arline M. Thomas Clifford. She was the wife of Richard B. "Dick" Bellinger, who she married July 11, 1950, and who died in April 1996.

She was a 1950 graduate of Sandy Creek Central School. She and her husband moved to Baltimore in 1954, then to Carroll County in 1959, where they spent the rest of their married lives.

She retired from F.W. Woolworth's in 1986 after nearly 20 years of service. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, William Winchester Chapter, in Westminster and was a past auxiliary member of Moose Lodge No. 1381.

After her husband's death, she moved to Hanover, Pa., for a few years, then returned to the Sandy Creek area.

She had many interests, from bird-watching to treasure-hunting with a metal detector to archival research. She contributed to local historical associations, and as a certified genealogist, she not only enjoyed tracing her family tree but also helped others with researching their own family histories.

She was an accomplished crocheter, making intricate lacework; in later years, she learned to quilt. She developed an avid interest in computers, following current events as well as keeping in touch with family and friends through email.

She especially enjoyed charity work and the list of organizations she supported continued to grow throughout her life, with The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, the Salvation Army, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation being especially important to her.

Surviving are daughter Crystal E. Bellinger and husband R. Granville Gough, of Lymm, England; grandson Deverell L. Coffman and wife Heather, of Hanover; granddaughter Katharine R. B. Coffman and partner Tracey White, of Mishawaka, Ind.; a brother, James A. Clifford, of Orwell; a sister-in-law, Marie Bellinger Phillips, of Cleveland, Tenn.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a son, Richard Francis Bellinger, who died in November 1974.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. until the time of memorial service, 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 at Summerville Funeral Home, 1997 Harwood Drive, Sandy Creek, N.Y. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery in Orwell.
