Frances May Colbert, 84, of Keysville, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Carroll Hospital Center, after a brief illness.

Born Dec. 30, 1927, near Detour, she was the daughter of the late Charles McKinley Spielman and Flora Belle Otto Spielman. She was the wife of Wilson S. Colbert, who died in 1990.

She had been employed at Kessler Shoe Company prior to retirement. She was a member of the Union Bridge Church of the Brethren.

She enjoyed watching soap operas on television, going to the ocean, solving word search puzzles, eating out at Hoss's and spending time with her family.

She had resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Keysville for the last seven years.

Surviving are daughters Oneda Shipley and husband Gordon, and Wanda Riddle, all of Union Bridge, and Susan Reese and husband Wilbur Jr., of Keysville; sons Wilson C. "Butch" Colbert and wife Cindy of Hampstead, N.C., and Charles W. Colbert, of Union Bridge; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; a sister, Betty Beard, of Walkersville; and brothers Maurice "Hog Dog" Spielman, of New Windsor and Bobby Spielman and wife Darlene, of Union Bridge; and numerous nephews and nieces including niece Anna Belle Moffitt.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Christine Reese; a grandson, Jeff Colbert; great-grandchildren Olivia Riddle and Cassandra Pack; sisters Mary Snook and Helen Morelock; and brothers William "Pete" Spielman, Glenn "Jack" Spielman and Charles "Dick" Spielman.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with her pastor, the Rev. James Benedict officiating. Interment will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery, near Woodsboro.
