Frances Marie Shaffer, 87, of Union Bridge, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Westminster, after an extended illness.

Born Jan. 21, 1926, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Addie Crouse Crumbacker.

She was formerly employed at the Union Bridge Clothing Company and H.L. Hartz.

She was of the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.

Surviving are daughters Diana Green and husband Lou, and Debbie Green and husband Fred Sr., all of Union Bridge; son James Crumbacker and companion Barbara Tackett, of Taneytown; grandsons and spouses Michael and Sharyn Green, Brian and Dawn Green, Jamie and Pam Green, Chad and Missy Green, and Fred Jr. and Lori Green; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Phil Shaffer; and a sister, Catherine Baker.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard L. Michael, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church in Union Bridge, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Union Cemetery.
