Francis C. "Cisco" McQuay, Sr., age 82, of Sykesville, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the Carroll Hospital Center. Born December 22, 1932, in Gist, Maryland (Carroll County), he was the son of the late Henry Raymond McQuay and Melvie E. Shipley McQuay. He was the husband of Jane Burns McQuay whom he married December 29, 1956. Francis had been a truck driver with Mitchell Transport, Inc., in Union Bridge for many years. He had served in the US Marines during the Korean conflict. He had served as Commander of the V.F.W. in Sykesville. He was a life member of the V.F.W., American Legion and Moose Lodge in Westminster. Francis loved to mow his lawn, work in his garden and shoot pool at the V.F.W. with his friends. He also enjoyed playing the mandolin and guitar. Surviving in addition to his wife are children and their spouses, Francis C. "Chuck" McQuay, Jr. of Baltimore, Brenda L. and Cliff Woodward of Berkeley Springs, WV, Rebecca L. McQuay of Hanover, PA and Monte M. and Paulette McQuay of Hanover, PA; grandchildren, Kevin Mayne, Bradley Guyer, Amy Woodward, Brandon Clark, and Adam, Bailey, Clayton, Carlon and Isaiah McQuay and great-grandchildren, Courtney and Matthew. He was predeceased by son, Douglas A. McQuay in 1961 and brothers, Jim, Bill, Henry "Toots", Bud and Ralph McQuay. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 1pm. Interment will follow in Bethesda Church Cemetery, Sykesville.
