Mr. Francis Joseph "Frank" Morrissey, 81, of Taneytown, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at his home. Born June 24, 1934 in Libertytown, he was the son of the late John T. Morrissey Sr. and Helen Louise Sappington Morrissey. He was the husband of Dolores Remsburg Morrissey, his wife of 44 years. Mr. Morrissey was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Libertytown and attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Taneytown. Frank served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957, stationed in Germany. He was formerly employed at Cambridge Rubber Co., Taneytown until its closing in 1983. He retired from Carroll County Roads Department and following retirement, he worked at Kennie's Market, Taneytown. Frank was a member of the Hesson-Snider American Legion Post #120, Taneytown. He enjoyed reading newspaper comics, word search puzzles, hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Penelope "Penny" Harlow of Gettysburg, PA; 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Louise Tregoning and Margaret Myers and husband Howard, all of Libertytown and Rosie Smith of Frederick; and a brother, Richard L. Morrissey and wife Mary of Libertytown. He was predeceased by 2 stepsons, Harry W. Ryan III and Eric W. Ryan; 3 sisters, Geraldine Welsh, Catherine Eyler and Jeanette Moran and 2 brothers, Matthew Morrissey and Tom Morrissey Jr. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 21 at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. John F. Lesnick and Rev. Fr. Jason Worley as celebrants. Interment will follow in Chapel Cemetery, near Libertytown. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 20.
