Frank Emil Sofinowski, 75, of Walkersville, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, from injuries sustained in a vehicular accident.

Born July 6, 1938, in Dundalk, he was the son of Ruth Eva Sofinowski, of Westminster and the late Jacob Sofinowski Jr. He was the husband of Barbara Ann Sofinowski, with whom he celebrated their 50th anniversary this past January.

He was a Navy veteran and was formerly employed as an electronic maintenance supervisor with East Coast Communications Relay at Ft. Detrick.

He and his wife moved to Walkersville in December 1963, and he was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed helping his friends and family, and this was a strong aspect of his life. He was known for his sense of humor.

He especially enjoyed riding his scooter, and he died doing what he enjoyed.

Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, are daughter Lora Sink and husband Stephen; son Frank R. Sofinowski, and wife Jennifer; brothers Jacob Sofinowski and wife Joan, Alan Sofinowski, and Charles Sofinowski; sisters Ruth Copenhaver, Pat Pennington, and husband Don, Diane Thomas and Linda Sofinowski; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark L. Foucart. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Union Bridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sen to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 19 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Walkersville, MD 21793.
