Frank William Fogle, 95, of Union Bridge, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at home.

Born Jan. 27, 1917, in Frederick County, he was the son of the late D. Oden and Susan Rebecca Warner Fogle. He was the husband of Frances Elizabeth Fogle, who died in 2009.

He was a 1934 graduate of Liberty High School and attended the University of Maryland. He was a dairy farmer for many years at Pleasant Fields Farm in Union Bridge, and then became an artificial inseminator with Sire Power.

He was a member of the Johnsville United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Libertytown-Unionville Lions Club, where he served several terms as president, held numerous other offices, participated on their bowling team and was honored as a Melvin Jones Fellow in 1994-95; and of the Brown Swiss Association and Twin Maples Trotting Association of Twin Maples Raceway in Abbottstown, Pa.

As a 20-year veteran of the racing sport he initiated the inclusion of pony and sulky races at The Great Frederick Fair. Throughout the years he showed cattle and chickens at The Frederick Fair as well as other fairs in Maryland and Pennsylvania. He enjoyed working with his ponies and socializing with people.

Surviving are daughter Barbara E. Shorb and husband Rick L., of Union Bridge; granddaughter Faith A. Leatherman and husband Brad, of Union Bridge; a granddaughter-in-law, Karen Linton, of Frederick; great-grandchildren Corey Linton, Dylan Sefsic, and Taylor and Brooke Leatherman; sisters Betty Waltz and husband Bob, of Frederick, and Katherine Etzler and husband Gary, of Keysville; brother Richard Fogle and wife Marie, of Woodbine; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Joey Linton, in 2000; sisters Nina Smith, Elizabeth Lee, Doris and Virginia Fogle; and a brother, Raymo Fogle.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday, and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road, Libertytown.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Johnsville United Methodist Church, Green Valley Road, Union Bridge, with his pastor, the Rev. Ernest Thayil, and former pastor, the Rev. Dwight Sheesley, officiating. Interment will be in Johnsville Methodist Cemetery.
