Franklin Paul Brose, Jr., 96, of Westminster went to heaven early Wednesday morning, May 25, 2016 at Country Companions Assisted Living where he had been a resident for the past two years. Born April 26, 1920 in York, PA, he was the only child of the late Rev. Dr. Franklin P. Brose, Sr. and Ethel (Werking) Brose. He was the husband of the late Virginia E. (Hering) Brose who passed away in 1999. Mr. Brose served his country during WWII in the Army from 1943 to 1946 and was a mechanic who maintained B-24 Liberator Bombers, stationed in Elmendorf, Alaska. He was previously employed by Black & Decker in Towson where he was a technician and then worked for Social Services in Westminster. Together with his wife, Ginny, they chartered the Carroll County Community Concert Association which brought outstanding, live entertainment to Carroll County. The organization still exists today, and Frank was a life-time member of its Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Church of the Open Door. He and Ginny played 500 cards with a group of friends regularly for over 40 years. Frank also collected coins and was always ready to enjoy a good cup of coffee. Surviving are his closest friends and caregivers Rod and Winne Bunyea and family of Taneytown; daughters Susan Atkinson and husband John of Tyrone and Martha Swapp and husband Wayne of California and grandchildren Jayson, Jennifer, Sarah, Sean, Tara and Zachary. A special thank you to Dawn Randazzo and Staff at Country Companions for the special love and care given to Frank over the past two years. Also to Terri Seigman for all she did for Frank while she was his neighbor. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster where the family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the start of the service. Officiating will be Rev. John Campbell. Interment will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster, MD 21157 or to the Endowment fund of the Carroll County Community Concert Association (Live On Stage), PO Box 1680, Westminster, MD 21158-5680.
