Frederick G. Eckrich, 74, of Mount Airy, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at home after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born Nov. 15, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wis., he was the son of the late Willard P. and Retha Johnson Eckrich. He was the husband of Nancy Lee McMillion Eckrich, his wife of nearly 48 years.

He was a cable splicer for Verizon for 39 years, and was a veteran of the Army Reserves. He liked to play golf and was a member of the Miscus Golf League.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sister and brother-in-law Joan and Ralph Steick, of Arendtsville, Pa.; and nephews Eric Steick, of Aspers, Pa., and Mark Steick, of Arendtsville, Pa.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

Catholic prayers will be said at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Mount Airy.
