Gary Albert Irons Sr., age 77 of Finksburg, died Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born November 9, 1940 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Maurice Albert and Mary Freda Keefer Irons. He was the husband of Helen Conaway Irons of Finksburg, his wife of 55 years. Surviving in addition to his wife are children Dani Liggett and her husband Ronald of Abbottstown, PA, Denise Brauning of Westminster, and Gary A. Irons Jr. and his fiancee Stephanie Bass of Marriottsville, siblings Larry Irons and his wife Judy, Lois Wilson and her husband Roger, Elizabeth Kurtz and her husband Kenneth, Gloria Merek and her husband Jim, Iris Mielke, and Janice Townsend and her husband "Whitie", brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Bill Conaway and Nancy Straus, and Jean Cutsail, grandchildren Tony, Jennifer, Sadie, Samantha, Niki, Seth, Savannah, Brandin and Jake, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Gary was a 1958 graduate of Sykesville High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He had been a meat cutter and retired with A & P food stores after 38 years of service. After his retirement, he worked for Sam's Deer Processing from 2001 until 2012. Gary loved riding motorcycles, golfing, listening to old music and was also an avid reader. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and never missed attending their extracurricular activities. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
