Gaylord Barker, 81, of Westminster, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Feb. 25, 1932, in Fenwick, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ivan and Carrie B. Jackson Barker. He was the husband of Margaret A. Dawson Barker, his wife of 59 years.

He had worked as a machinist in printing for the U.S. Department of Defense. He was a veteran of the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Since his childhood years, he enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons and daughters-in-law James A. and Gail Barker of Wake Forest, N.C., and Michael A. and Carleen Barker, of Eldersburg; a son-in-law, Benjamin Alan Delancey, of Annapolis; and five grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Catherine Delancey, who died Aug. 15, 2006.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m Monday at Deer Park Cemetery in Smallwood.
