Geneva May Selby, 86, of Taneytown, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014. at Emeritus Assisted Living in Westminster, following a brief illness.

Born Jan. 18, 1928, at the family's farm near Emmitsburg, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Mary Kelly Ohler. She was the wife of Sterling Selby, her husband of 62 years, who died in 2009.

She dedicated her life to her family, especially her son, Danny, who was a special needs child. She was raised a farm girl and enjoyed the farm life.

She and her husband had two sons while living in Taneytown, then moved to Westminster and had a third son in 1956. In 1978, they returned to Taneytown, where they lived until moving into assisted living in 2009.

She worked at the Taneytown Rubber Factory, Butte Knit in Westminster, and volunteered a lot of her time to The Arc Carroll County.

Surviving are sons David Selby and wife Sally, of Silver Spring; and Dennis Selby and wife Barb, of Houston, Texas; grandchildren John and Kate; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Shadle; a brother, Kenneth Ohler; a son, Danny Selby; and a grandson, Bryan Selby.

A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at Gunner's Grille, Lodge Room, 5525 Taneytown Pike, Taneytown. Graveside services will be private.
