Genevieve Louise Lantz, age 92, of Winfield, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 12, 2017 of natural causes. Born December 24, 1924 in Union Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Robert and Louise S. Eyler Nusbaum. She was the wife of Lester LeRoy Lantz, who predeceased her in 1997. Mrs. Lantz attended Elmer Wolfe School in Union Bridge, and in her earlier years enjoyed drawing. She was a devoted and hardworking wife and mother, and enjoyed gardening and canning. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially attending the Rocky Hill Lutheran Church festivals with her daughter. Surviving are three daughters, Sandy K. Phelps of Union Bridge and her friend, Brad Cornell, Sylvie M. Weckesser and husband, Robert of Sykesville, and Ellie S. Lantz of Winfield; three grandsons, Matthew Phelps and companion, Rebecca Jenkins, Michael Phelps and wife, Kimberly, and Ty Lee Mitts Jr.; great-granddaughter, Candice Phelps; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Resh; and a son-in-law, Richard E. Phelps. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge on Sunday, Jan. 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard L. Michael, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church, Union Bridge, officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Union Bridge.
