Genevieve "Jenny" Vivian Hodge, 73, of Westminster, passed away on August 14, 2017 at Carroll Hospital Center. Jenny was the wife of Charles Clinton Hodge, Jr. who survives her. Jenny was born on November 2, 1943 in Westminster and was the daughter of the late Helena Lucinda (Baker) Brightful and Charles Brightful. She graduated from the Robert Moton School in Westminster in 1961 and worked for the Carroll County School Board until her retirement in 1996. She loved flowers and gardening. She was an avid reader, especially of the Bible, she was an excellent cook and particularly enjoyed cooking wild game and making homemade wines. She also loved to visit yard sales and thrift stores. Above all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Jenny is also survived by her children: Marcy Dorsey and her husband Kenneth of Westminster; Bryant Hodge and his wife Sabrina of Westminster; Mark Hodge of Owings Mills; Karen Braxton and her husband Tony of Reisterstown; Michael Hodge and his wife Sherica of York, PA and Troy Hodge of Owings Mills. She is also survived by siblings: Robert Brightful; Caroline Rogers, Stanley Brightful and Johnny Brightful, all of Westminster. She was predeceased by siblings: Charles Brightful; Marjorie Sherrod; and Catherine Johnson. Jenny leaves loving grandchildren: Keneka Wars; Lee Dorsey; Zachary Braxton; Marissa Hodge; Miranda Hodge; Alexa Braxton; Miya Hodge; and Trevor Hodge. She also leaves two great-grandchildren, Iysis Dorsey and Milon Wars; and special nieces who were thought of more like daughters: Melody Brightful and Stacie Johnson; and a host of other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Union Memorial Baptist Church, 160 S. Center St., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 East Main St., Westminster. Rev. Edwin C. Smith will officiate. Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Garrison Forest. Online condolences may be offered at
