George Thomas Anderson, Sr., 83, of Westminster, died Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Transitions Healthcare in Sykesville surrounded by his family. Born March 28, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Andrew and Ann Anderson. His wife of 54 years, Marie Helen Anderson died August 4, 2012. Before retiring he worked in finance and was a real estate agent for Long and Foster. He served in the Army and was a member of the American Legion Carroll Post No. 31. He enjoyed coaching baseball, basketball, adult softball and most of all watching his grandchildren and Great-grandchildren sporting events. He was an avid golfer and played regularly at Flatbush Golf Club and appreciated the time with friends. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Scott A. and Maria Anderson, George T. "Skip", Jr. and Kirstin Anderson, all of Westminster, two grandchildren Nicole Duvall and husband Jason and Ron Anderson, 5 great-grandchildren, Victoria Rose Taylor, Ronnie Anderson, Jr., Skyla, Ariella and Kamryn Duvall. He was predeceased by sister Cookie Dixon and her husband Tom Dixon. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Prayer services will begin at 7 p.m. Interment will be private at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Carroll Post No. 31, 2 Sycamore St., Westminster, MD 21157 or to the Kenneth F. Noel Memorial fund in support of Leukemia Research at Hershey Medical Center. Online condolences may be made at
