George Arrington, 79, of Marlinton, W.V.a., formerly of Sykesville, died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at home.

Born Feb. 13, 1934, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Daniel Richard and Katherine Hurt Arrington. He was the husband of the late Mary Hope Arrington, the late Emeryl Arrington, and of Sharon Arrington.

He had worked as a machinist for Hydronautics. He was a graduate of Lisbon High School, class of 1952. He then served in the Army during the Korean conflict.

He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and had been active as a board member of the North Central West Virginia Community Action Agency.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Michael Arrington, of Clayton, N.C.; a daughter, Linda Arrington, of Walkersville; a daughter-in-law, Suzette Hutchinson Arrington, of Sykesville; brothers and sisters-in-law Richard and Dorothy Arrington, of Mount Airy, and Louis and Sandra Arrington, of Wisconsin; and grandchildren Debbie Rottman, Mary Hope Lipford, and John, Scott and Joey Arrington.

He was predeceased by a son, Tim Arrington.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Thursday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Marriottsville.
