George Franklin Rill, 92, of Carrollton, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Feb. 24, 1922, in Carrollton, he was the son of the late Roland Franklin and Violet Ethel Hughes Rill. He was the husband of Gwendolyn H. Rill, who died Jan. 12, 2012.

He was a retired territory seed manager for Stanford Seed Co., a retired school bus contractor and a lifelong farmer. He was an active member of Church of the Open Door where he served as a deacon of the church and was a member of the Super Sixties. He was a co-founder of the Fellowship of Christian Farmers. He was a member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau, Gideons International.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law the Rev. John P. and Imogene Rill, and James D. and Linda Rill; daughters and sons-in-law Esther A. and Jerry Davidson, and Ruth C. and James Jennings, all of Westminster; foster children Jennifer L. and Phil Gay, of Easton, Cheryl E. and Jerry Small, of Glen Burnie, and Darryl Ecker, of Westminster; many other foster children they raised; a brother, Paul D. Rill, of Westminster; grandchildren and spouses Steven and Renee Rill, Brian and Dawn Rill, Mark and Tiffany Rill, Pamela and John Holbrook, Gavin and Jacquelyn Jennings, Jonathan Gay, Emily Gay, Ariana Davidson and JR Small; and great-grandchildren Jared, Jadon, Carisa, Kira and Kayla Rill, Marshall, twins Genevieve and Frederick Holbrook and Macy Gwen Jennings.

He was predeceased by brothers Roland and Mervin Rill.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

Visitation will also be held from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service, 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster, with the Rev. Dr. Norris Belcher officiating. Interment will follow in Carrollton Church of God Cemetery in Finksburg.
